Jeff's mother is an "animal whisperer". She has a gift with all sorts of animals. I haven't seen an animal that doesn't love her. Jeff, therefore, is part "animal whisperer". It is a dominant part of his character. We haven't always had animals because of where we've lived. We have had animals for half of our married life. All of them have loved Jeff!
Jeff's sister has had birds for a long time. In November, Jeff visited his sister in California for a wedding. Ever since then, he started talking about getting a Sun Conure. They are known for their loving personalities. We looked at a few places and found one in the online classified ads. Sunny, is a beautiful, silly bird. He wakes up happy and repeatedly, says in his own way, "Do you want a raisin"? With a perfect inflection at the end. He loves raisins, and bananas. He takes a bath in his water dish every 2 to 3 days. He loves to be on Jeff's shoulder and loves to be petted on the back of his head. He snuggles up next to a fluffy blanket that is on the side of the cage, at the end of one of the perches.
I found a great quote, "I had a linguistics professor who said that it's man's ability to use language that makes him the dominant species on the planet. That may be. But I think there's another thing that separates us from animals. We aren't afraid of vacuum cleaners".
Sunny, does not like it when we vacuum. He squawks loudly. Then Addie will start barking and then the bird squawks some more. It is a cacophony of sound! However, he is not afraid of the dog, and of course, he loves Jeff!
