Weekend in Paradise.

Whale Watching.

We went whale watching today.

We saw a couple handsfull of whales

(if you could actually hold them in your hands).

Love those hunchbacks.

Poor Jeff.

We went to an Urgent Care Center today.

He had a fever of 101.3

and probably an infection in his kidneys.

He started antibiotics and an anti-inflammatory.

He has been sleeping alot today.

Hopefully he feels better soon.

Better to be sick in Hawaii

than in two feet of snow in Utah.

Although, it would be nice if he wasn't sick at all.

Exploring Kona and a Near Setting Sun.

We decided to explore Kona today and not do as much today

but we did plenty and enjoyed every moment of it

(well, at least I did. Jeff isn't feeling well and 

Davis is trying so hard to enjoy this trip.

It has been so hard for him).

Davis wanted to go snorkeling

and so we did.

Jeff watched and Davis and I ventured out

and saw so many colorful fish

(and a puffer fish!).

Well, as soon as Davis saw that puffer fish

he swam quickly away.

He came back and tried again

but I think it spooked him

and he soon became claustrophobic

and couldn't continue.

He hung out with Jeff and I frolicked with the fish a little longer.

LOVED it!

We later came back to the hotel and Davis and I

swam and swam in the pool,

rested in the room and went to dinner just the two of us.

Hopefully, Jeff feels better tomorrow.

 

The Big Island of Hawaii, Hawaii.

True.

For a few years we have gone somewhere around January

for our anniversary

(this year was our 26th).

This year has been a little different.

Jeff really wanted to go to the big island of Hawaii

but we had to wait just a little.

I've really wanted some new carpet upstairs

(the carpet may be the original carpet

of our 30 year old home but I am 

so ok with waiting a little longer

if it means that we get to go to Hawaii).

We had plans (for months) for grandparents and a sister 

to be with Davis.

This has worked in the past

but this time Davis hasn't been doing well.

A week and a half ago we were so worried

about leaving him because he has been so close 

to hospitalization that we felt that he would do better 

with us than without us.

On Monday I got a call saying Davis couldn't see out of his right eye.

I took him to the ER because if something was really wrong 

I wouldn't be able to forgive myself.

He had a CT scan of the head and a thorough eye exam

that showed only a need for a pair of prescription glasses.

His amazing Psychiatrist had called us to check on him

and tell us some changes to his medications for the trip.

(she gave me her personal cell number 

so that I could text her or call her

if Davis wasn't doing well. 

In the last few weeks we have been 

in contact way too many times.

On Monday I let her know how Davis was doing).

So with us he is

and we are hoping for healing and relaxation.

We got here late yesterday.

Today we drove to the east side of the island

and explored a little.

So beautiful!

We got to babysit on Friday

and we had so much fun.

Those dogs love her too.

Even when she doesn't have a toasted cheese 

sandwich in her cute little hand.

New Recipe #8. Two Potato Vegetable Soup.

I made this on Friday night.

I so wanted this to be good.

It really may be good for someone else

but it didn't work out, for me.

So sad.
